The registration process for obtaining a Certification Marks (CM) license for a product in Bangladesh involves a 6-step procedure at the BSTI. The headquarter of the BSTI is in Tejgaon I/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh. BSTI issue CM license to the local manufacturers for the commodity and foods categorized as: (1) Agriculture and Food, (2) Chemical products, (3) Jute and textile products, (4) Engineering products, and (5) Electronics and Electrical products.
BSTI issues Clearance certificate, test reports, CM license, Metrology Certificate when the product complies with the Packaged commodity rules and BDS. BDS are Standards catalogue for maintaining Bangladesh Standards.
BSTI issues the Clearance certificate after getting the test reports of the samples collected from the shipment once arrives on the land port or, the seaport or the airport.
Required documents for CM license application for the locally produced items under the BSTI mandatory product list:
- NID copy of the owner (s)
- TIN Certificate & Tax return proof
- Pictures
- Trade License
- For the limited company – MOA, AOA, Incorporate Certificate copy
- Form 12 (if limited company)
- Company TIN Certificate (if limited company or partnership)
- Civil Surgeon Certificate/Premises Certificate
- Copyright Package/logo (if any)
- Package Approval
- Lab Room/Cooling System Room
- Factory Layout
There are some voluntary products also for the registration in BSTI.
